We have driven 4,000 mile so far. OK--to be more accurate, Rick has driven 4,000 miles so far. I am the de facto navigator but for someone who can't tell right from left this is a stretch.
We began the day sharing breakfast with two bears at the Black Bear Diner in Bend.
Next, we headed for Crater Lake...
...along the way, these straight, forested roads went on forever.
But Crater Lake was still in the midst of winter. They get forty four feet of snow each winter and so what we found was a very frosty land...
Crater Lake was not at its best today. The gray sky did nothing to turn the waters into the magical deep blue that we all remember and look for. The snow was very deep and we understood why the park doesn't open completely until July.
As you can see, there's plenty of snow to last until then!
OK--interestingly, when we stopped for lunch and took the bag of chps out of the car, it was totally inflated! At 6,000 plus feet that's what happens to a sealed bag of anything. You can imagine what it does to some people's lungs....
Ahhh--we made it! On our way to our great airbnb, we were welcomed to California--tomorrow we visit the redwood trees to the south....
