A weekend in the Willamette Valley

Beautiful.  Have I over-used that word?  Well, I'm sorry but this state is just that.  So beautiful.  The ocean, the mountains for skiing, the wineries, etc.  We woke to perfect weekend weather...

After a stop to look at Spruce Goose...

We managed to squeeze in a picnic on the Pacific--suggested by Betty....

...and the ocean was just amazingly beautiful--the weather, perfect....

We visited several great wineries and at this one, our airbnb hostess, Betty, was pouring Rick's favorite--delicious pinot noirs for us to taste.

On Sunday morning we went back to the Trappist Abbey of Our Lady of Guadaloupe...

...and attended Mass in the beautiful, modern chapel where the monks made us feel most welcome.

And here is Rick enjoying a bit of the grape--pino of course...

Juat to let you know, the tasting is done in these large--ok, huge--glasses.  An ounce of wine is offered for tasting.  Which is why they always look empty....

Still and all it's a very relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon....
