We woke up to our last morning in Tegernsee and a typically German breakfast of coffee, rolls, croissants, jams, fruits, cold cuts, etc. on the deck....
...and our last look at the Tegernsee from Hilla and Stephan's beautiful home....
After our journey to Salzburg and lunch with Hilla, Stephan and Tom, our first destination was the Fortress high above the city. The ride up was exciting...
...and the view view of Salzburg was AMAZING.
Rick wanted to find as many scenes as possible from the "Sound of Music", now celebrating it's 50th anniversary. It is not as popular in Europe as it was, and is, in the US. But we did climb up to the Abby where it was filmed. I counted 140 steps--really....
You might remember this door from the movie--it opens to the place where "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" was sung....
As we watched, a nun came and locked the door to the church. It was almost the end of the day--but not quite! We decided to take a ride on the tour boat and on the way back, this is the view we saw...
Finally, we looked and looked for a place for dinner and found Saran. The owner knew Rick Steves and sat and talked with us for awhile. Theis was the dessert he sent to us--the most fabulous apple strudel ever. Sooooo yummy!
Our final treat of this day of many blessings was to fall asleep in our canopy bed--altogether, a day too good to be true....
