I did a couple of little watercolors for Daily Artist, Rick had a walk and we found a place to stay between Craters of the Earth in Idaho and the wine country in Oregon next week. OK, I am amazed that Howard Johnsons is still operating but in a bit of a bow to the place where we got engaged in the parking lot :o) we'll be staying at Ho Jo's in Pendleton--three stars, free breakfast and only $59 for the night.
And, now, we're off for the day!
We are so blessed to have another clear, sunny day. On the way out of Salt Lake City heading toward Park City, it was a fine drive.
Park City has changed a lot since we were there to ski thirty years ago. It was a cool, scruffy town with a definite western edge then and today it's been all cleaned up and modernized. House prices are through the roof--as in a million or more--though I did find a studio for $125,000. We're not moving.
And here's the least healthy lunch you could imagine--loaded mac and chees with bacon, fried onion crisps and jalepenos. The key here is that this is HALF a portion--Rick and I shared the pasta and the beer. And neither of us could finish our portions. Oy.
We moved on from lunch--after a short car nap--to Robert Redford's Sundance Resort. Smaller than I expected with only two chair lifts--now of course not running since it was about 75 degrees. But a beautiful place for conferences in the off season.
A bit of a fuzzy shot of Bridal Veil Falls on our way back to Salt Lake City. It's really the only waterfall we've seen so far.
On the way back we stopped at Trader Joe's which we found yesterday and loaded up on snacks for the road and some yummy mandarin orange chicken with a big salad for dinner. And then we re-pack to leave tomorrow for our drive to Driggs, Idaho and "the Quiet Side of the Grand Tetons" as our next airbnb is called. A log cabin!
